BHR Upgrade Phase I - Vent of Fall 2021

1. Venting process

We wanted to vent TP1. We rerun the TP2 and tried to slowly introduce the air via TP2. But the interlock prevents the action.

Following are different parts of this phase. These are mostly going to be in order, but some parts can be started in parallel or sometimes are required to go in parallel. So they do not necessarily define a chronological order of doing things.

4. Part IIa: Get Green lock for reference

  1. Add dummy PR2 weight near its plan position on ITMX chamber.
  2. Balance ITMX chamber table and align ITMX through CDS to get green lock on X-arm.
  3. Balance ITMY chamber table and align ITMY through CDS to get green lock on Y-arm.



5. Part III: PRC Folding mirror placement

  1. Removal of PR2 mirror

  2. Placing a fixed mirror on a new PR2 location.

  3. Replacing PR3 with SOS with a new optic (E1800089).

  4. Aligning TT2, PR2, and PR3 to get the beam to the BS center.
  5. Set up 2-3 irises.

6. Part IV: SR3 replacement with SR2

  1. Cleared East side of BS table. Following optics were removed and placed in Xend flow bench:

    • OM4-PJ
    • GRX_SM1
    • OM3
    • BSOL1
  2. Replace SR3 with the new SOS called SR2 now.

7. Part V: POX Path setup

  1. Align PR2-PR3 such that the BS beam is going to ITMX at the typical spot and the existing POX path is lit.
  2. Clear the ITMX table. Following optics need to be removed:
    • POP FW
    • POP BW
    • ITMX OL1
    • ITMX OL2
    • POXM1
  3. Place POX M1 on the BS table and get the reflected beam out on the ITMX table outside.



8. Part VI: POY Path setup

  1. Removed and parked SRM on the West side of the ITMY table

  2. Clear the ITMY table. Following optics need to be removed:

    • OM1
    • OM2
    • POYM1
    • ITMY OL1
    • ITMY OL2
    • SRM OL1
    • SRM OL2
    • SR2
  3. Place POYM1.
  4. Align PR2-PR3 such that the BS beam is going to ITMY at the typical spot and the existing POY path is lit.
  5. Place POYM2 and get the reflected beam out to the BS table outside.

9. Part VII: SRM Oplev setup

Note these steps are done without SRM present. The optics will be tentatively in their positions.

  1. Put in place SRMOL2.
  2. Put in place SRMOL1.



10. Part VIII: LO Path up to LO2 setup

  1. Removed following from ITMX table:
    • POPM1 (POP FW)
    • POPM2 (POP BW)
  2. Placed LO1 in near its position.

  3. Inserted LO1 OSEMs and damping test.

  4. Place LO2 in position.

11. Part IX: AS Path setup

  1. Place AS1 and AS4 in position.

  2. Align the PR2, PR3, and BS such that the reflected light from ITMX hits back SR2.
  3. Align SR2 such that the beam goes through the center of the planned position of SRM.
  4. Place AS2 and AS3 in position.

12. Part X: BHDBS Path setup

  1. Place LO3 and LO4 in position.
  2. Place BHDBS in position and align LO3, LO4 to get a beam on BHDBS.
  3. Align AS4 such that AS beam is overlapping with BHDBS.



13. Part XI: POP Path setup

  1. Align ITMY such that the back-reflected beam comes straight back in the same path as the incidence beam.
  2. The back-reflected beam should hit LO1 SOS on a different spot. Place POP_SM4 there.
  3. Place POP_SM5 to get POP reflected out into the ITMY table.



14. Part XII: AS RFPD Path setup

  1. Track transmission from AS2 mirror to BS table.
  2. Ensure clearance and place ASL in position on BS table.
  3. Ensure clearance of AS beam to Injection chamber through MC chamber.
  4. Place AS5 and AS6 in position to get AS beam out on South most West exit tube on Injection chamber.



15. Part XIII: Green transmission paths

  1. Align ITMs such that green lasers are locked to both arms.
  2. Place GRY SM1 and GRY SM2 in position.
  3. Place GRX SM1 and SRX SM2 in positions.
  4. Align to get both transmitted green beam out in the BS table.



16. Part XIV: ITMX oplevs

Layout Q: Can we push the mirrors back to keep more clearance?

  1. Turn on He-Ne laser on the ITMX table outside.
  2. Place ITMXOL1 such that OpLev hits ITMX in the center.

  3. Place ITMX OL2 to collect reflected beam and send it back to ITMX table outside.



17. Part XV: ITMY oplevs

  1. Put in ITMYOL1, ITMYOL2.
  2. Align the beams to get a readout.



18. Part XVI: Place PRM, PR2 and SRM

  1. Put PRM in place.
  2. Put in PR2 in SOS.
  3. Align the beams in PRC back to the irises.
  4. Put SRM in place.
  5. Adjust the SRM OpLev mirrors to get the OpLev beams aligned properly.



19. Part XVII: BS, PRM oplevs

  1. Put in BSOL2
  2. Put in BSOL1 and return the collected light to BS table outside.
  3. Put in PRMOL1 and return the collected light to BS table outside.



20. Part XVIII: Pre-pump alignment and clearance check
