As of today (05/01/2024) the 40m Vacuum System does not use any of the CRYOgenic System. So the following components are apparent and physically attached to the system, but NOT in use.

Residual Gas Analyzer
The 40m has an RGA SRS200. The volume for this RGA can be isolated using VM1, VM2, and VM3. This volume NEEDS TO REMAIN IN VACUUM IF THE RGA IS ON. If the filament is hot and exposed to Atmospheric pressure, the filament will burst and destroy the RGA. Keep th

Nitrogen Cylinders
The Nitrogen Cylinders are used to maintain the Open Status of the Pneumatic Valves. Without a pressure of 80 PSI in these lines, the pneumatic valves will close and the interlocks will trip. No valve can be opened until these interlocks have been switched off.

The D30A pumps are Oiled Rotary Vane Pumps. After reading about the "Anti-Suck Back Mechanism" in the manual, it is shown that this "prevents pump fluid from surging back into the vacuum line" in Section 2.5 . This should be upgraded to Scroll pumps so that we do not run the risk of Oil back Streaming and destroying our entire Vacuum System. The |
