This page will describe what changes will need to be made to effect the changing of the Arm Names.

List of Changes

  1. MEDM overview screens: IFO align, Video overview, vacuum screen
  2. Wiring diagrams?
  3. QPDs in transmons
  4. ISC tables: ISCTX, ISCTY. (ETMX/Y too)
  5. All of the optical layout: names in DWG / PDF and correct all of Wiki descriptions
  6. Change the record of the mirror arrangement (correspondence between mirror S/Ns (ITM01, etc) and the name (ITMX/ITMY...)
  7. Channel names (or swap CPUs)
  8. Updating CPU location record
  9. Labels on the circuits / cables / displays
  10. Rack names / Descriptions related (1X!->1Y1, 1Y1->1X1)

  11. All of the scripts that may be related to the topology of the TM. e.g. alignment script: currently Yarm script involves BS alignment => Xarm script will have it instead.

  12. Tell Jay and other CDS people about the swap of the arm names. => They are the people who make the wiring diagrams for the new CDS.

History

The 1997-2010 40m interferometer had its arms named differently than the LIGO sites. Rather than accept the Right Hand Rule convention in place nearly everywhere, the naming was reversed. Another interpretation is that the 'z direction' pointed down. This was done so that Matt Evans' lock acquisition code could be ported here without making major changes. That code had also chosen some non-standard naming convention (NPTRR was the power transmitted through the Reflected arm).
