►ITM Suspensions

The ITMs are being changed into SOS. For this we will need to fab 2 SOS towers. We will re-use existing OSEMs and misc in-vac hardware.

SOS Updates (Mostly ITMs, but where applicable, extra parts for other new Optics):

  • 29 Oct 2009 - Most of the parts are here, only the EQ stops are left to be dealt with. Most of this stuff needs to visit Bob's lab for cleaning.
  • 30 Oct 2009 - Screws for EQ stops ordered. Also, fixtures should be sent from MIT ~today, so we should get them soon.
  • 3 Nov 2009 - Most of the screws for EQ stops have arrived (a few were backordered, and will be here shortly). Now I need to drill them / have the shop drill them for the viton.
  • 5 Nov 2009 - Most of the 6-32 screws have been drilled for the viton. The 1/4-20 3/4" screws have arrived, but the 1/4-20 1.5" screws won't be here until early December.
  • 17 Nov 2009 - 50 of the 1/4-20 3/4" screws have been drilled. The 1/4-20 1.25" screws arrived, and need drilling. Also, the wire standoffs and guiderods have arrived from the shop. They just need to be cleaned (just like all the other stuff).
  • 20 Dec 2009 - All of the remaining needed EQ stop screws have been drilled.
  • 28 Dec 2009 - Another email sent to Tim @ MIT to check on the status of the Guide Rod fixture...he said he has it and would send it, but it hasn't arrived here yet.
  • 4 Jan 2010 - Bob has started cleaning all of the suspension hardware. Guide Rod Fixture from MIT has arrived.
  • 6 Jan 2010 - Since the ETMs will also be SOS, we need to have 2 more towers fabricated, and then cleaned. Some of the hardware (washers, screws etc) we have enough for all 4 new towers, but much of it will need to be manufactured. Koji is in charge of this.
  • 11 Jan 2010 - All the SOS stuff is cleaned and baked, ready to start gluing and assembling. We need to get EPOXY and a WINCH FIXTURE, but other than that we're pretty much ready to start assembling the 2 ITM towers.

►Tip/Tilt Suspensions

For the PRC/SRC folding we will use Tip/Tilt stages modified to be used passively. No active damping, no coil drive. Just magnets and natural eddy current damping.

We have got five initial TT delivery. 4 is for the PRC/SRC folding. 1 is for tests/spare. We would employ 4 more TTs for the Input/Output steering, though we should seriously consider the foot prints of them.

We will employ vertical springs designed by Valera@LLO. Mike@LLO suggested the items additionally needed for attaching the vertical springs.

Viton Damper Mount

There was a problem of the backplane. A beam of the backplane blocked the laser light goes through the TT optic. attachment:TT_crosssection.png

The design has been modified to address this issue. The modified design is here. attachment:TT_ECD_Drawings_for_40m_100215.pdf

We will realign the MC suspensions so that we are centered on the mirrors this time.
