Fall 2018 Upgrade of 40m Vacuum System
Goals
- Install a network of Ethernet-capable vacuum gauges to replace the old serial-switchbox units.
- Replace the EPICS/hardware translation layer with Python-based code.
- Other hardware changes? Valves, pumps, computers?

10-31-2018 The primary purpose of this vent is to simply replace the VME system with the Acromag system and verify that we are at the same operating state as we are at now (so the pump and gauge hardware is NOT upgraded for now). This amounts to implementing Python logic for the INTERLOCKS and checking that they work. The zeroth level test can be done o the electronics bench, by just changing EPICS values for pressure indicators and seeing that the appropriate DAC/BIO channels are triggered. https://wiki-40m.ligo.caltech.edu/Vacuum_Interlocks?highlight=%28interlocks%29 |
