Detailed Vent Plan:

-1) Preparations for vent:

  • Steve will prepare baseline readings for IOOPOS, IOOANG, IPPOS and IPANG QPDs,
    • all the oplev QPDs, and any/all other QPDs that are useful.
  • We might want to lock the arms, and take baseline trends
    • of the DC power on all the photodiodes that can be trended.
  • Shall we keep the MC2 QPD on the transmitted beam,
    • or move it back to the oplev beam?
  • Osamu will prepare a detailed plan for the OSEM work.
  • Rana will lock the arms and measure the angle-to-length couplings
    • of the ITMs. If the beam is not centered horizontally on ITMX, we can think about moving it during the vent.

-0.5) Establish SRM + OO table alignment, as referenced to AP table

  • Install fixed mount fiber launch at AP. This will be like a long, IR oplev.
  • Verify that this fiber beam is co-linear with current darkport beam.

0) Fill Vacuum with Air

1) Remove Doors and Access Connectors:

  • OO: ND and AC
  • IO: AC
  • BSC: ND and ITMY AC
  • ITMY: AC
  • ITMX: ND
  • MC2: ?

2) Fix OSEMS on MC2, BS, PRM

Maybe wait on SRM till the end, since it is our reference for aligning the back-propagating beam from the DC PD, retroreflecting off of the SRM back to the DCPD.

Mis-align MC2 to prevent flashes?

2.5) Install half-wave plate to rotate polarization into the MC.

3) Install DC readout optics

  • position electronics, wiring, and other necessary equipment near the OOC for biasing the TT PZTs,
    • locking the OMC, and alignment.
    • Necessary equipment includes, but is not limited to:
    • PZT driver (OMC L)
    • Lock-in Amp (SR830)
    • Cabling (many BNCs), cross-connects for Vacuum flange
    • SR560
    • fibercoupled laser
    • High-Voltage power supply (for TTPZT), with cabling and cross connects to power mirrors in TWO chambers.
    • Power supply for DC PD
    • Four channel color scope
  • Measure levelness of OO table with bubble
  • Measure levelness of BSC table with bubble
  • Measure levelness of ITMX table with bubble
  • place iris on OO table, using CrystaLaser beam as reference.

  • plase iris(es?) on BSC table, using CrystaLaser beam as reference.

  • Move OMMT assembly to OO chamber, place according to drawing.
  • Place 4 spherical washers to support OMC breadboard.
  • Move, and place OMC breadboard.
  • Remove handle from OMC breadboard.
  • secure OMC breadboard and OMMT to table.
  • run wiring, establish signals from DC PDs.
  • Install TTPZT1 on BSC table and TTPZT2 on OOC table
  • Run wiring from BSC to ITMX. Disconnect ITMX flag picomotor wiring. and replace with TTPZT1 wiring.
  • Check that both TT PZTs can be powered and biased. Simultaneously!
  • Attach cable for OMC length PZT, wire up a solution to drive it. Test that it works properly.
  • Remove DCPD, install second fiber launch in its place. Lock the OMC backwards.
  • Install RF pickoff mirror and next steering mirror.
  • Place remaining optics rougly on table, including squeezer optics.
  • Measure levelness of OO optic table.
  • Relevel the table, using the bubble.
  • Verify alignment of fiber beam 2 through OMC, OMMT, RF pickoff mirror, to PZT2.
  • Bias tip-tilt PZT2 to the middle of its range.
  • Align PZT2 to hit the AP steering mirror1, f-beam 2 to hit SRM and retroreflect to the OMC
  • Remove AP steering mirror 1, replace with TTPZT1.
  • Bias PZT1 to middle of its range.
  • Align PZT1 so beam hits center of SRM, and then through to centers of ITMX and ITMY.
  • Align RF pickoff mirror so back-reflection from SRM
    • can exit chamber. This beam can then be made co-linear
    • with that from the first fiber, by moving a steering mirror on the
    • AP table.
  • Place OMCT mirror.
  • Now the f-beam 1, coming from the original AP table and retroreflecting from the SRM, should be
    • visible near the input to the OMC.
  • Verify that OMCR and OMCT beams exit chamber.
  • remove Thorlabs diode used for locking OMC backwards.
  • Test that the OMMT and squeezer mirror picomotors can be controlled from the outside.
  • Comission the squeezer optics.
  • Relevel table again if movement occurs;
    • if so, double check alignment of fiber beam to SRM and back, and that APRF, OMCR, OMCT beams exit the chamber.

4) Fix OSEMS on SRM

5) Pack up and get out.
