  1. OmniGraffle - good diagramming software

  2. Matlab - IMSS website
  3. COMSOL 4.0 - LIGO has a network license
  4. Papers - download
  5. Mathematica - IMSS

  6. RapidWeaver - only needed for web page design

Free Software

  1. X-Code (~2.4 GB): Install from the Leopard/Snow Leopard DVD. Prerequisite for Macports.

  2. MacPorts: an automated package management software. Makes it easy for you to get lots of Unix/Linux stuff. Most of the following packages are available through MacPorts.

  3. Porticus: MacPorts GUI.

  4. Aquamacs: better than X-Emacs or Carbon Emacs.

  5. BibDesk

  6. Gimp
  7. Subversion
  8. Google Picasa

  9. TexShop this and BibDesk you should get as part of MacTex, not MacPorts.

  10. Coconut Battery

LIGO Software

  1. ligotools - use Google, follow web page instructions
