Here Alberto will discuss how he came up with the requirements of the specs above. He'll describe his Optickle model showing the results of his simulations. 5x Frequency Multiplier

In the Upgraded 40 Meter the 55MHz modulation necessary to generate the second sideband, will be obtained from the first modulation f1=11MHz by means of a 5-time frequency multiplier.

We are going to use a Low Noise Odd-Order Multiplier (LNOM) by [http://www.wenzel.com Wenzel Inc.], with the specs contained in [attachment:9112501.pdf this data sheet].

According to [attachment:DesignOfTheMultiplier.pdf our requirements] an output level of +36-40 dBm will be needed.

The LNOM from Wenzel can output only +20 dBm, thus a high power, low noise amplifier will have to be added. This [attachment:A2CP2596.pdf A2CP2596] by [http://www.cougarcorp.com Teledyne Cougar Corp.] seems to be a good candidate.

Defining the requirements for the Frequency Multiplier
